Coach Indira Roachford
Varsity Coach Indira Roachford started playing volleyball in 2002 in high school and made the national Team For her country Saint Lucia. In 2006 she received a division 1 Volleyball Scholarship at Coppin State University as a Middle Blocker continued playing for her country as needed as a MB and RSH. In 2012 she decided to play beach and also toured the NORCECA beach with St.Lucia. Indira started assisting college volleyball in 2009 and started head coaching high school in 2013, and club in 2016. She Loves the game of volleyball and is willing to help anyone to not just play volleyball but develop a passion for the sport. Coach Shane Roachford
JV Coach Shane Roachford, St. Lucian national, started his career in 1998 playing High School Volleyball. He went on to play club volleyball, and was selected to represent St. Lucia from 2005 – 2012 as a setter, in regional and international competition. He earned his FIVB International Level One Coaching certification in 2006 and served as an assistant coach to junior national team in 2010 and the senior women and men’s national team in 2013 and 2014 respectively. Shane’s love of volleyball extended beyond the court as he earned a position the NORCECA Statistics Commission in 2012 as a Volleyball Information Systems (VIS) Supervisor, attached to the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association. He continued his administrative pursuits as General Secretary of the St. Lucia Volleyball Association, before moving to Baltimore in 2014, where he joined his wife in coaching High School volleyball. The on-court and off-court experiences in volleyball has given Shane a deep appreciation and love for the sport of volleyball. Coach Michaela Rikard
Freshman Coach Michaela started playing volleyball at age 10 and has been playing ever since! She played club volleyball in eastern NC for Coastal Carolina Volleyball Club and Twin Rivers Volleyball Club as a middle hitter. Michaela was introduced to grass and sand volleyball while attending college in Raleigh, NC. She encourages juniors to play on all of these surfaces to become a master of the fundamental volleyball skills and game strategies. Plus, you get to play volleyball all year long! Michaela completed her PhD and moved to Atlanta in 2021. She works full-time as a health scientist at the CDC in the Division of Overdose Prevention. She started coaching with Ichiban Volleyball Club in 2022 and this is her first season coaching with Lakeside HIgh School. She is excited to be joining the Lady Vikings! Freshman, JV, & Varsity Coach Rodriguez participated in numerous Volleyball Jr. Olympics with her Club in Puerto Rico, ARSEL and Borinquén Coqui growing up in Puerto Rico. She earned a letterman for volleyball all four years of high school and two years with softball at Notre Dame High School in Caguas, PR. The coach was part of the Puerto Rican National Team Program when she was 15. Coach Rodriguez earned a full volleyball scholarship during her freshman year at Georgia Southern and then transferred to Alabama A&M University. While at AAMU, she earned Newcomer of the Year and Setter of the Year. After her senior year, she got picked in the first round of the draft to play professionally in Puerto Rico. She also stayed for three years to be a graduate assistant coach after graduating with her Bachelor's Degree. Coach Rodriguez was one of the coaches of the volleyball team at Druid Hills Middle for two years, and she is also CPR certified. She has a Masters in Teaching in Special Education from Valdosta State University. |
